We received a report regarding the Taufik Hidayat Arena, which will be built by a Indonesia’s super starTaufik Hidayat(ARCZSTH), from our distributor in Swiss, Y GmbH. One of their staff visited the building site.
The Taufik Hidayat Arena will give a shock every badminton center all over the world. There are various kinds of courts and services. However, the Taufik Hidayat Arena will be a something special.

In last July, I could have a chance to visit and see the construction site in Jakarta. I saw the outside in a 30 minutes and TH-Arena was surely constructed. Steel bearers still lay around and it was welded and hammered. The arena was still in construction. But I could see each characteristics of the building and Alfadiadi and Cecilia B. Salim, who are the managers of the arena, explained me extensively where what premises.
At the entrance, the Reception expects the visitor. At the right side of it, the trophy gallery of the world champion and Olympic champion, Taufik Hidayat. A cafeteria, press area, sports shop as well as the fitness center and players lounge with internet and TV. On the left side of the Reception, there is another reception for the foreign athletes and drawing room. Besides, there are 12 double rooms, shower, toilet, kitchen area, physio room and laundry area as well as the office of Taufik Hidayat Arena.

Directly coming from the athlete-area through stairway, the Badminton Hall is on the first floor. Four YONEX courts are on the half of foyer. These courts are for the foreign players. Other four courts are for the national players and for their families. However, one can use all eight courts for training-course, Alfadiadi explained. In case a tournament is planned, it will be integrated for 500 spectators.
Behind the arena, there is a Jogging-Track which has approximately 170 meters length. Inside the track, there are two Futsal-Courts. Futsal is small field, 5-5 football and popular in Indonesia. Since Taufik is a big football fan, he wants to have a chance to play futsal as a hobby.
But there are another main reason to build this arena. “I have reached much in my career in the badminton and I’m very grateful for it. With this arena, I want to show my gratitude to badminton and want to help the national sport of Indonesia to reach the status again such as I have reached."
The PBSI had a very successful 90’s. Several world and Olympic champion came from this country, however, there are less international successes for a few years. This should be changed again.
Players are divided into three groups and train each other. Children are mixed into the one group in any age. They train there so that later they are nominated for the national training center of PBSI in Cipayung. Then, amateur players can enjoy sports at the badminton court or futsal court after their work.
The third group is called Cecilia badminton player and they come under the management of Taufik and his coaching team to Jakarta for intensive training. “Every player wants to come here and become better. They train twice a day and are free for the regeneration in the evening. You can trip into the city or to the sightseeing on the Saturday afternoon as well as Sunday. If you need meaningful training, at least three weeks are needed. If less than it, the effect is not so big. Four weeks training is optimal." Alfadiadi explained all around the Arena and also, external catering service. “Of course, it is hard for European players to adjust Indonesia dishes from tomorrow. Some food taste, especially sharp seasonings can cause stomach problems. The external catering service adjusts to it and serves European foods for them. Therefore, players don’t have to worry about such a problem and all around service generally covers even laundry for players. There is an area where we can dry the shoes soaking with sweat.
Also, we considered about how to spend evening. The evening time should really be used for the regeneration. For this reason, TV and internet don’t exist in the rooms. Players should concentrate on the sport 100 percent here and train under the instruction of top trainer in small groups."
Taufik Hidayat Arena will be completed in the end of the year and it is planned that it will start from January 2012.
